TSM: Gemalto Readies Contactless Rollouts in Singapore

  • Singapore is getting ready to witness contactless services launches based on Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Services Manager.
  • The TSM is hosted locally by Gemalto in a dedicated (MasterCard and Visa compliant) centre. This nationwide contactless rollout is supported by Government agency IDA’s (Infocomm Development Authority) iN2015 Masterplan, the Next Generation e-Payments Programme as well as several industry players (banks, mobile carriers and service providers). The open platform has also been designed to ease the integration of new partners.
  • Customers will be able to use contactless features in payments contexts at 20,000 local stores and benefit from various other NFC-based services. Gemalto also proposes a SIM-based mobile wallet application to overcome user experience issues across compatible NFC handsets.

  • Gemalto stretches in 40 countries; it develops and hosts secure infrastructures integrating various confidential data and manages this information throughout its lifecycle. Mid-July they announced that the Singapore TSM had just been granted Visa and MasterCard certifications, and was operational. The centre already counted two customers: the Japanese KDDI (see January 2012 Insight) and this Singapore consortium in process of rolling out contactless services nationwide.
  • The group owns two other TSMs, one in France and the other in the US, where it was selected by Isis (December 2011) and by Chase (February 2012).
  • The iN2015 Next Generation e-Payment Programme designed by the IDA in partnership with a line up of payments industry players aims at helping CEPAS (Contactless e-Purse Application) equipment of local outlets in high cash-based retail segments (infrastructure and contactless compatible terminals).
