Mobile Cash Collection: Skrill Launches Skrill 1-Tap
- Skrill, former Moneybookers, launches Skrill 1-Tap, a mobile contactless payment service connected to Skrill’s m-wallet for merchants.
- When first using Skrill, final customers have to enter their banking information: then, they can choose to enable Skrill 1-Tap for future purchases with the same merchant.
- This launch coincides with Skrill’s extension of its Quick Checkout Enterprise suite for online card processing. This HTML5 payment gateway has been designed for mobile terminals (Smartphones and tablets). Merchants can then accept card payments via a mobile website or using a native app.
- Skrill counts about 20 million customers worldwide and has been adopted by 100,000 merchants including global brands such as Skype, eBay and Facebook
- It reminds that according to a study conducted by EPiServer, 33% of Smartphone owners in the UK have used their mobile handset to pay in 2011 and 26% used a mobile app to do so.

- The same study also highlights the interest of marketers in mobile apps and websites explaining that 35% “would expect to see increased traffic” and 39% improved sales figures.
- Nevertheless, while 73% of the consumers use their Smartphones or tablets to browse the Web, only 20% of the companies now propose optimised websites for mobile consultation.
