DKV Fuel Cards to Include Electric Car Charging

FACTS

  • The leading company in enterprise mobility, DKV Euro Service, expands their range of card offers as they unveil a new service for electric car drivers.
  • DKV cards have been rolled out in roughly 40 countries, where they are accepted by nearly 68,000 locations. They provide their users with a certain number of advantages including: access to a multi-brand, European network of services, customised and transparent invoicing, online transaction management for greater control on expenses, maintenance and repair services for vehicle fleets, solutions for toll roads (such as DKV-Liber-t hands free toll tags in France).
  • In addition to these rather conventional services, a new option called DKV Card + Charge has been introduced for EC drivers, enabling them to:
    • Find a nearby car charging station faster via the DKV APP + Charge app
    • Charge their EC using a network of 2,500 dedicated charging points regardless of the vehicle’s brand
    • Rely on DKV billing management service for EC charging, as is the case with payments for fuel based on DKV cards.

CHALLENGES

  • DKV focuses on assisting corporate customers through applying changes to their car fleets. Their current business expansion plan is in line with today's market evolution and increasing interest in multiple power sources.
  • DKV now looks into manufacturing EC charging kiosks, which accounts for their many initiatives in this sector.

MARKET PERSPECTIVE

  • This group further looks into the market for EC-related services. A dedicated offer was introduced in partnership with the electric car charging service operator Freshmile, in March 2018 DKV announced they were considering a Joint-Venture with Innogy to launch a new offer for charging these same vehicles.
  • Most of the leaders in enterprise mobility as well as large-scale gas oil and gas companies already applied changes to their fuel cards, so they could also provide access to car charging stations. Shell, for instance, unveiled a fuel card which covers several power sources in partnership with IONITY (JV owned by BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen). And Total turned their GR card into a multi-energy card which takes into account EC charging points throughout a network of more than 8,000 public kiosks in France.
