Retailers and catering industry players have been making several announcements by way of streamlining customer processes, with a cashierless journey in mind.
2018 already witnessed several launches to this respect: Carrefour, Monoprix, Saturn, and, from now on, Auchan have all made room for combining self-scanning and mobile payment for the sake of improving customer experience. The Spanish bank, for its part, bets on Machine Learning and biometric technologies for a frictionless payment step.
Mobile Services – Tech Giants Landing in France
- FRANCE – Samsung Pay has been available in South Korea and in the US for three years. It is now hitting the French market. Read more
- FRANCE – Alipay further focuses on addressing France and Europe: a partnership has been announced with Galeries Lafayette, as well as a more global one with Ingenico. Read more
- FRANCE – Amazon claims their mobile payment solution, Amazon Pay, has been particularly successful so far, especially with French merchants. Read more
Well-established retailers and banks have been joining forces to fight Web and mobile tech giants, but these companies keep making progress in France. Alipay, for instance, further aims for global acceptance in partnership with Ingenico.
Also, Samsung’s mobile payment system now challenges Apple Pay, while both Amazon and Alibaba are already considering additional partners for more support.
