The US wallet market in a turmoil

  • UNITED STATES – Google enhances its range of service with Google Wallet Card: a debit card to come along its prepaid Google Wallet accounts.
  • UNITED STATES – ISIS just launched its Isis Mobile Wallet: delayed several times, this launch materialises a nationwide offer.

The US wallet market starts taking off and growing more structured with first level announcements. Google, for one part, appears open to more technologies as well as to a new medium to attract users. ISIS, for its part, relies on its founders’ bases to stand out.

These offers will also have to face currently emerging banking initiatives.

Card schemes fighting over the European market

  • FRANCE – V.me by Visa sets foot in Europe, and in France where it will be proposed by two banking groups: BPCE and LCL.
  • EUROPE – MasterCard partners with Ogone and Wordline to cater for the development of MasterPass in Europe.

MasterPass and V.me have been tested for quite a while and their international ambitions are rather similar.

MasterCard first goes for partnerships with PSPs to roll out in Europe, while Visa relies on banking institutions. Two approaches but a likewise development will. 

State of the emerging French MPOS market

  • FRANCE – Orange launches Paiement Pro, a subscription-free mobile POS solution for nomadic merchants.
  • FRANCE – Crédit Agricole and LCL have unveiled Smart TPE and Monem Mobile: their MPOS solutions relying on Spire’s devices.

Developers too are betting on this new born market with several implementations now underway in France: payleven for instance or Monext and snapElite’s Paystore have been presented.

Orange and the Crédit Agricole group will however benefit from strategic advantages: their historical implantation and merchant customer bases.
