Mobile Cash Collection: Square Redesigns its Loyalty Tools

  • Square updates Square Register and Pay with Square adding in loyalty features.
  • The included options have been intended to help merchants build exclusive offers: first visit specials and customised discounts. Just as well, configurable tracking, reporting (including x and z reports) and inventories are now possible.
  • Pay with Square now allows customers to store several loyalty and punch cards and follow up their respective balances using the mobile app. This digital wallet helps them avoid missing out tips, and, as merchants have access to their purchasing history and remaining rewards points, they can be rewarded automatically.

  • After having insisted on its outstanding growth, Square carries on working on its development (see May 2012 Insight). The start-up now counts over two million subscribers and highlights the importance of rewarding them through this new announcement.
  • In order to stand out in the increasingly mobbed mobile acceptance market, Square makes its products evolve and takes further steps towards a sector generally run by terminal manufacturers. With Square Register, and these evolutions enabling merchants to set up VIP offers and attract customers, both these targets might find Square of interest. In addition to a prevailing incentive aspect, these features also allow customers to store discounts and other loyalty cards on a medium they almost never part from.
