Authentication: A Biometric Solution Applied to M-commerce Apps
- The American specialist in secure data protection solutions AuthenTec has just presented a new biometric authentication solution with its smart fingerprint sensor specially adapted to m-commerce applications and mobile wallets.
- The digital sensor builds on the technical characteristics of existing solutions developed by the company but is now better adapted to mobile payment operations and notably for use in contactless transactions on NFC-enabled smartphones.

- In addition to this sensor, the technology is also to be used for a model of fingerprint readers that will be built in to mobile phones. The first models equipped with this technology are expected to ship to the market by the end of 2012.
- A few days after notifying the arrival of their mobile solution, AuthenTec announced further extension of its range of authentication solutions by introducing its low cost USB fingerprint reader for PCs and Mac Notebooks.
