M-banking: City Bank Offers Increased Spending Limits for Mobile Card Payments
- At the Finovate Spring 2012 event, City Bank Texas presented the latest version of its mobile app with three new features aimed at improving the level of control users can apply to mobile payments.
- After City Bank initially launched its Debit Card On/Off Switch app in January 2012, enabling customers to activate or deactivate their credit card, they are now already delivering three additional services.
- Users now have the possibility to temporarily set daily purchasing or cash withdrawal limits for their card. They can also authorise or prevent foreign transactions.
- In the same way as for the first functionality, these different solutions are managed by on/off toggle buttons directly on Smartphones running iOS or Android.

- The first version of City Bank's credit card management application was already considered, at the time, as an innovative milestone in monitoring means of payments. This new range of options is also quite original: user-friendliness and mobile-related simplicity of use. In addition it provides the cardholder with greater freedom to personalise both the way his card is used and the functionalities that, up until now, were managed by the bank.
- The launch of this application further reinforces the observed tendency to personalise each payment transaction according to the media, place and time of use.
