Ogone Opens a New Office in The US

  • The Belgian e-PSP Ogone has just opened a new office in San Diego: already implanted in several main EU countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, UK and Switzerland), the player is carrying on its international expansion and wishes to reach the US e-commerce market. This new entity will for instance be in charge of consolidating a network of US retailers.
  • Ogone counts 35,000 customers (including Chronopost, DHL International, Brandalley, Ikea, Thalys International, Sodexo, etc.) in 45 countries and has build links with over 200 acquirers. These connections enable international payments as well as payments relying on local methods (ELV and giropay in Germany, Carte Bancaire in France, iDEAL and Machtigingen in the Netherlands, Bancontact/Mister Cash in Belgium, but also payment options only to be found in the Middle East and in India). The localisation of payment pages also helps customer websites improve their conversion rate.
  • This internationalisation is motivated by the development of the e-commerce sector and Ogone reminds that it should witness a 16.1% increase to reach 232.8 billion euros in 2012 in Europe, while the US expects a 9% increase (224.2 billion dollars in 2012): figures from the Centre for Retail Research.
  • Ogone insists on development opportunities in Asia, South America, Africa as well as in the Middle East. In September 2011 it acquired 100% of EBS (E-Billing Solutions) capital, an Indian online service provider, and started reaching out of Europe. This move is here repeated in yet another continent.
