PointsPay Mobile App to Monetise Loyalty Points

  • PointsPay, subsidiary of Switzerland-based Loylogic Holdings specialising in mobile wallets and payment services, launches an app crafted for the loyalty industry and enabling final users’ to convert their points or miles into currencies to pay for goods at points of sales via a prepaid Visa PointsPay card.
  • This “universal” mobile loyalty programme has been launched with Etihad Airways in the United Arab Emirates exclusively and does not require any integration efforts on the merchants’ side. Etihad Guest Members with an iPhone can convert their rewards in all physical or online stores (with a virtual Visa card in the second case).
  • Concerning security, customer information is encrypted and all transactions are password-protected. An alert is sent for each conversion.
  • Loylogic’s headquarters are based in Zurich. It disposes of other offices in the US, UK, UAE as well as in Latvia and India.
  • This programme can be used internationally: the accumulated points are included in PointsPay’s mobile wallet for worldwide online and in-store payments (via the dedicated prepaid card for instance). As this scheme is non-exclusive, it does not imply any integration or primarily set up dedicated network of accepting partner POSs.
  • End January, Etihad Airways announced it had carried a record 8.29 million passengers in 2011 or 17% more than in 2010.
