Google Wallet in Common Transportation Networks
- Google expands the use of Google Wallet to common transportation services and partners with the State of New Jersey (NJ TRANSIT) to provide contactless payment of transportation tickets in a certain number of train stations as well as on some buses. This network represents 895,000 travels during week days.
- Google makes no secret of its intent to apply its solution to all sorts of mobile contexts (including transportation, events, representations, and even ID cards or keys, etc.).
- The player also counts on SingleTap to attract users through contactless discount vouchers and loyalty rewards to be used automatically with partner merchants (American Eagle Outfitters, The Container Store, Foot Locker, Guess, Jamba Juice, Macy's, OfficeMax, Toys "R" Us, and several others currently getting equipped).
- NJ TRANSIT is betting on the improvement of customer’s experience and relies on the most up-to-date technologies to cater for this initiative.
- Here again, contactless tools are used to help all parties save time. Considering traffic density in urban areas, transportation networks could interestingly opt for these solutions.
