Self-service: ATM Tax Payment Services Made Available
- In India, the private bank HDFC Bank now allow its 115 million customers to pay their income taxes using one of its 5,998 ATMs in more than 1,000 Indian towns.
- This service is available upon request of the cardholder: the dedicated option is activated right after registration.
- HDFC Bank is the second largest bank in India, after the Reserve Bank of India. This initiative relying on a large scale network asserts the bank’s interest in diversifying ATM’s banking services. India is a wide country and these tools may provide access to several kinds of services even in the remotest areas.
- Also, the size of the Indian ATM park is steadily increasing. In April 2011, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) reported a 29% increase between 2010 and 2011, the global amount of cash withdrawal amount went up 142% and the number of transactions (account consultation, withdrawals, etc.) increased 121%. This is in direct relation with the diversification of proposed services.
