Cards in Northern Africa and in the Middle East

  • Zynga carries on expanding, and now partners Jordan-based online payment solutions provider Gate2Play to propose gaming prepaid cards in the Middle East and in Northern Africa.
  • These cards, worth 2, 5 or 10 dollars, will be available as prepaid cards or digital PINs. They will be distributed by Gate2Play through a network of thousands of stores in 16 countries.
  • Through this partnership, Zynga sets foot in a region where the online gaming sector is currently developing: this is for instance shown by Venture Holdings’s heavy investment in two Jordanian start-ups, one of which being Gate2Play.
  • The economic context largely accounts for this phenomenon. The number of Internet subscribers increased over 1,800% since 2000, representing more than 63 million users todayt. Among these subscribers, 15 million claimed they used Facebook, about 24% (source: Social Times), the progression margin is then significant.
  • More generally, Zynga carries on expanding internationally. It recently partnered the e-PSP Epay, to strengthen its positions in 18 EU countries.
