Contactless Payment for London’s Black Cabs
- Ingenico and Visa Europe announce new contactless payment solution designed for London‘s “Black Cabs” has been launched. The device is based on Ingenico’s iCT250 terminal and aims at improving card acceptance in the 25,000 London’s cabs.
- This tool displays a colour screen and embeds GPRS as well as contactless functions. Other added value services can also be proposed, including mobile phone toping-up.
- This solution comes in addition to the already possible traditional card payment (via smart cards or magnetic stripe cards) in London’s cabs and helps improving access to these means of transportation in a country where the contactless payment market is particularly mature (large number of card deployments and acceptance devices).
- Most of all, this partnership illustrates Visa’s commitment to deploy contactless solutions as announced last year.
