GAP now testing Apple's EasyPay
- In December 2010 GAP's Old Navy subsidiary started testing Apple's EasyPay payment terminal.
- Consumers can sign directly on the iPhone's touch screen using a stylus and validate their transactions. These devices are connected through the local wireless network to several printers so that receipts can easily be delivered (some employees also dispose of small portable printers).
- This system was first developed for Apple's own use (in its AppleStores). The EasyPay terminal connected to an iPhone or iPod Touch and the associated applications enables bank card payments. Invoices can also be sent to the customer by e-mail. This system seems particularly adapted to specialised commerce (customer process optimisation, queue management when the stores are crowded, etc.).
- This kind of mobile solution will certainly be seen as a new market for banks specialised in the field of acquisition.
