2D Barcodes: Universal Barcode Platform
- In France, Mobile Tag, which specialises in marketing solutions for barcodes, announced the launch of the first 2D, 1D barcodes and NFC universal platform. This new offer, called "Quick Access" is enriched with additional features designed for mobile information collection:
- Link the products with a mobile content using their 1D barcodes (EAN, UPC),
- Manage 2D barcodes campaigns (Q-R-codes, Datamatrix, Flashcode, fotokody)
- Link NFC tags to a mobile content managed by a unique platform.
- Mobile marketing campaigns are then simplified, and so is the follow-up of information access and of the use of these solutions. In addition, according to their press release, Android Mobile Tag application is compatible with NFC tags and will soon be made available on all platforms.
- In Canada, Mobio Identity Systems, Mobio application designer for Android and iPhone, publishes a comprehensive report on the adoption of Q-R codes in North America over the last semester 2010. These devices often contribute to promote new products and their use increased 1,200% over the second half 2010.
- According to this report, during the pre-Christmas rush, the number of advertising campaigns conveyed through this medium actually exploded.
- Users are generally 35 to 44 years old (25%), and 64% are women (who seem to be more favourable to collecting information on products and, potentially, to paying with their mobile phone). Finally, 5% of all scans are payment scans.
