Société Générale Selects Oberthur Technologies

  • Société Générale has chosen Oberthur Technologies to roll out its contactless services in 2012. The latter provide TSM services to be hosted in one of its centres.
  • The bank intends to rely on the international customisation specialist and trusted third party’s know-how. Through this contract Oberthur also asserts its involvement on the m-payment sector.
  • Oberthur specialises in system security technologies, cards (SIM, access control, NFC, smart card, etc.) and secure IDs. The company here provides for its TSM activity and confirms its presence on the mobile sector –as already noted in November 2011 through its partnership with the Australian company AuthenTec on the development of UICC NFC SIM cards with mobile biometric authentication (see November 2011 Insight).
  • Société Générale, like other French banking players before, bets on the contactless payment market, showing its interest in this technology, as already illustrated in February 2011 by its investment on several mobile contactless services for Cityzi.
