VeriFone Launches New POS Terminals and Mobile Cash Collection Solutions
- At January 2012 NRF convention in New York, VeriFone presented its new interactive and mobile payment solutions for retailers. The manufacturer also highlighted the opportunities resulting from the adoption of a multi-channel approach as well as from purchasers’ curiosity regarding mobility applied to points of sales.
- VeriFone’s MX 900 POS terminals series has been redesigned (and MX 915 and MX 925 have been launched) to take advantage of multimedia contents. Targeted elements (couponing, loyalty) have been added to improved acceptance systems (accepting m-wallets, including Google Wallet and Isis Mobile Commerce Application). This material should be made available in the US by the end of the first half 2012 and later on tested in other locations.
- The PAYware Mobile Enterprise for Tablet app, for its part, enables barcode reading, card payments (smart cards, mag-stripe and contactless cards), acceptance of m-wallets or, even, issuing of customised offers, etc.
- Last November, VeriFone bought GlobalBay to allow for the development of solutions such as GlobalBay Mobile POS and Retailing (see November 2011 Insight).
- The manufacturer might, in time, also integrate PayPal-based payments options (PIN and NFC) –this is of major importance considering this player’s recent initiatives to enter POS acceptance.
- The race to gather market shares in the points of sales market carries on and all terminal manufacturers now focus on “all-in-one” mobile collection solutions: an especially successful trend. This explains their addition of payments options and CRM added-value services.
- In line with this approach, NCR Corporation also proposes a new transaction, sales and stocks management platform for independent retailers.
