North American Bancard Launches Pay Anywhere

  • North American Bancard launches Pay Anywhere, its new card acceptance tool and associated mobile app.
  • Unlike Square, which requires that its own app be used to make mobile card transactions, Pay Anywhere fits in the retailer’s already proposed services. If he does not have his own app, he can still opt for the mag stripe card reader and use the associated iPhone/iPad or Android app (soon to be made available in BlackBerry OS, too).
  • This solution does not imply that a monthly, minimum, transaction amount be reached and Pay Anywhere’s reader and software are free of charge. The app can be downloaded from the App Store and Android Market. Related services include a free merchant portal, transaction management, listings and stock descriptions, real-time reporting and alerts, customised and paperless receipts, etc.
  • The app does not store any card-related data, nor do the reader or terminal.
  • Eventually, Pay Anywhere is also generally less expensive than its rivals: 2.69% + 0.19 dollar per transaction (compared to 2.75% + 0.30 dollar on average).
  • The PSP North American Bancard processes 12 billion transactions each year for over 110,000 merchants in the US.
  • End December 2011, a Software Development Kit (SDK) has been opened to third party developers for them to integrate Pay Anywhere into their own platforms. This solution is then different from the ones proposed by other players (including Square and Intuit, for instance) and can be harmonised with specifically crafted online contents. Merchants can highlight their offers and enhance their payment options –as is the case in other online contexts. The users should not be “disturbed” by potential redirections to payment-dedicated interfaces with no visual relation to the merchants’ graphic charter.
