Limonetik Widens its List of Accepted Online Means of Payments

  • Limonetik, aware of the part to be played by alternative means of payments –which should account for 25% of the online transactions by 2015, or 13.8 billion euros (source: ADN’co)– had added four new payment options in its platform and should further enhance it with about ten other solutions in 2012.
  • Among these new solutions, gift cards, including: CCDS’s Spirit of Cadeau (Sodexo group) for sports and home equipment, Ticket Surf International’s Ticket Premium –25, 50 and 100 euros prepaid cards– (now also to be used with e-merchants such as 3 Suisses or Mistergooddeal.com) and The Kooples prepaid card (e-mail and plastic card formats), only proposed in a BtoB context for a start and only to be used on the brand’s website.
  • Finally, the environmentally friendly loyalty programme “Watt is it” is yet another new solution accepted online: designed for eco-tourism offers, organic products, environmentally friendly transportation and services, sustainable energy, etc. It allows the users to add up “Watt” points, a virtual currency to be used with partner retailers and valorised at 0.10 euro by the Banque de France.
  • Limonetik’s platform makes it possible to convert private label means of payments into universal online payment transactions (based on MasterCard’s network).
  • The diversity of the alternative means of payments sector may account for this player’s position in favour of integrating especially varied options. The originality of this announcement notably relies in the addition of Watt is it, an environmentally friendly reward programme, here converted into a means of payment, as would be the case with carbon credits. This last point asserts the increasingly important part played by virtual currencies, some of which can even be used in the physical world.
  • As far as prepaid offers are concerned, Limonetik intends to include as many options as possible from the physical world (The Kooples’s physical card, for instance). It also allows for an easier management of these means of payment through enabling the payer to check his balance, add up cards and even to use his bank card if necessary.
