Authentication: NagraID Presents New Visa CodeSure Matrix Display Card
- NagraID Security and Visa Europe have launched the CodeSure Matrix Display Card including a more flexible, dot-matrix LCD screen to display non roman characters –unlike the previous 7 segment display CodeSure card.
- This improvement should make it possible to present more complex and meaningful messages or symbols (local alphabets, currencies, etc.). The keys have been redesigned to remind the user of Smartphones’ entries.
- This solution has been presented at the Cartes & Identification Event in Paris last November as well as during the e-Commerce & Payments World India 2011 conference on 7 and 8 December. For now, it is being tested by several EU players with large scale deployments in view.
- These developments should help respond to several markets’ expectations, including some that are especially open to these technologies. In September 2011, the NagraID Arrow Secure Card (NASC) has been launched in India: discussions with different private and public banking institutions had then been envisaged. NagraID reminds that over 1.5 million cards have been issued in 29 countries –including Turkey and Taiwan (see previous Insights).
- This announcement confirms banking players’ interest in strong authentication solutions as well as their increasing will to customise the messages they send.
