Acceptance: Ingenico Equips Avis Europe’s Network

  • Ingenico has signed a five-year contract with Avis Europe to equip and manage payment services across its retail branches.
  • In line with this agreement, Ingenico will provide 3,000 iCT250 Chip and PIN terminals. Transaction management will be delivered through its Axis platform. It will also propose a helpdesk as well as hardware maintenance services.
  • This launch should take place in the beginning of 2012 across Avis’s EU network of 1,000 branches.
  • Through this contract, Ingenico provides Avis Europe with a PCI-DSS compliant acceptance network based on its international platform Axis. This platform has already been deployed in varied sectors such as retail distribution, restaurants, transportation or gas stations. Through Axis, Ingenico manages over 80,000 active cash collection devices or more than 1.6 billion transactions every year in Europe.
  • Ingenico has acquired several companies in Italy, Germany, Spain and in Asia, asserting its will to expand a services-oriented strategy (processing, acquiring). In France, Ingenico has been pursuing an active external growth policy and has purchased Sagem / Ascom Monetel and MoneyLine in the recent years. It is also developing an enhanced range of POS services and focusing on the management of payment transactions while enhancing on customer experience.
  • Ingenico has shifted strategy: it now behaves more like a service operator and not only as a manufacturer and software vendor.
