Deutsche Bahn Officialises Launch of Touch&Travel
- Deutsche Bahn partners VodaFone and announces official launch of Touch&Travel (its NFC mobile ticketing and dematerialisation solution) in 320 German train stations.
- This solution proposes a wide range of payment options: NFC payment using the train station’s automatons, paperless tickets through registration using Touchpoint kiosks equipped with NFC chips, on the fly registration through the iOS app and validation at the end of the journey.
- These options allow travel calculation for post-payment, once the geolocation data is sent to initiate a debit operation in the end of the month.
- This solution has been tested since 2007 in some German train stations; further functionalities have step by step been added.
- It makes the difference through relying on post-payment unlike other payment dematerialisation and NFC solutions.
- Voyages-sncf.com (see “Other Means of Payments”) is also working on ticket dematerialisation and is about to propose a medium based on QR codes.
