NYCE-LINK Access Agreement

  • US network NYCE and British LINK have decided to enable access to their respective ATMs. Cardholders affiliated to the NYCE network will be able to withdraw cash from LINK ATMs and vice versa.
  • Nearly all British card issuers are affiliated to LINK (about 100 million cards and 63,300 ATMs end 2010). LINK bets on the London 2012 Olympics and intends to improve direct card acceptance on this occasion. NYCE cardholders have access to more than 360,000 ATMs and two million additional points of sale.
  • The British network proposes several multiservice initiatives to its member banks: funds donation using ATMs, enhancement of security features, etc.
  • It also provides them with direct cross-border exchange of withdrawals, i.e. without using MasterCard or Visa. To this respect, in 2009, it signed an agreement with CUP. Later on, in July 2010, the German-British corridor has been set up, this time through the framework of EAPS (pan-European EuroAlliance of Payment Schemes). This partnership with the German interbank organisation ZKA enables German girocard cardholders to withdraw cash using LINK ATMs (this agreement does not enable reciprocity at German ATMs as LINK is not an issuing brand).

  • NYCE has also announced a likewise reciprocal agreement with CUP (see dedicated note).
