Acquisition: Keynectis Buying Out OpenTrust
- In France, KEYNECTIS, specialising in strong authentication solutions, has bought PKI specialist OpenTrust. Exclusive negotiations have started in July. The amount of this transaction has not been disclosed.
- According to KEYNECTIS, this strategic acquisition will enable both players to last and even expand on the international level, but also to share their customer databases. KEYNECTIS issues a great number of certificates for large accounts (from governments to SMEs). OpenTrust proposes simple and ergonomic PKI through its distribution network. Considering this purchase, some of OpenTrust’s products will be proposed in SaaS mode from this autumn on.
- The French vendor KEYNECTIS is SaaS-oriented and focuses on the security of digital exchanges. It was founded 12 year ago (20 million digital IDs protected and 450 million electronic transactions secured each year). Its ID security management offer concerns governments, manufacturers and financial institutions.
- OpenTrust is a provider of digital trust infrastructure for large accounts.
- OpenTrust is mostly owned by private equity firms: Iris Capital, GemVentures, Crédit Agricole Private Equity, Elaia Ventures, Seeft Ventures and 123Venture. Among Keynectis’ shareholders: Gemalto, Morpho (Safran Group), CDC (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations), Euro-Information (Crédit Mutuel-CIC Group), TDH (Thierry Dassault Holding) and the Imprimerie Nationale. This buyout covers all shares in OpenTrust.
