Google Launches Credit Card for Announcers
- Google has just launched a beta-test version of its MasterCard credit card for companies using Google AdWords services.
- This credit card is free of charge and enables access to a credit line (AGP 8.99%) dedicated to the purchase of keywords on the AdWords platform.
- It is intended for SMEs the treasury of which would not suffice to finance large communication campaigns at key times (Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc., when prices soar up).
- To begin with, only few existing Google AdWords customers will be solicited to subscribe this card issued by the World Financial Capital Bank. If the results are convincing enough, Google may envisage larger scale commercialisation.
- These are Google’s first steps in the financing market. Advertising accounts for 96% of its revenue, which explains why the group is now proposing a card especially dedicated to the purchase of advertising spaces.
- For now, Google AdWords proposes two options to small announcers: a prepaid one, to purchase keywords expiring when they have no credit left; and, a post-paid one, making it possible to carry on the campaign when in process. Google also started commercialising Google AdWords prepaid cards several months ago. This new offer will then enable Google to try an alternative payment option for SMEs.
- This is also a way to use a universal means of payment for the sake of its own marketing strategy and create additional revenue.
