Kudos New Mobile Card Acceptance Solution

  • NetSecure Technologies launches Kudos, a turn-key mobile card acceptance solution for small merchants and service providers. Readers designed for Smartphones (Apple, Google or RiM), tablets (iPad, BlackBerry PlayBook, Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc.), laptops and desktops are proposed. This device could enable some 2.5 million micro-businesses to accept card payments formerly deterred by their cost and complexity.
  • The Canadian mobile payment market had been waiting for these kinds of solutions based on Square’s popularity in the US. A flat rate of 2.9 percent per transaction has been set (+0.20 Canadian dollars per transaction), without limitation on the amount of transactions. Unlike Square, Kudos is also available under BlackBerry OS. Kudos, will cost 49.99 dollars but is currently available for free as part of a limited time offer. All transactions made using this device benefit from end-to-end encryption.
  • Several innovative mobile cash collection solutions have been developed these past months. Square, which relies on a magnetic stripe card reader, is considered as a pioneer on this market. NetSecure’s solution or Payfirma Corporation’s solution (developed by Fintech Innovation) assert the interest of the Canadian market in these technologies. Considering the significant number of compatible mobile devices (including BlackBerry), Kudos outruns its rivals and could gain customers favour.
  • These new acceptance solutions must also integrate smart card technology to ensure their durability. Sweden-based iZettle, for instance has just launched a removable smart card reader for iPhone on the Swedish market, and could later propose it to the European market.
  • Meanwhile, other technologies are being developed: Card.io in the US opts for a solution based on a scan of the card. The user takes a picture of his card and can validate his transaction without entering any code.
