E-invoicing: Creation of a Representative and Standardisation Association
- On 5 May in Brussels, about thirty e-invoicing companies launched the EESPA (European e-Invoicing Service Providers Association). This entity will federate the elaboration of a standard expected by the EU, which prepared it with new Directives on VAT and digital signature.
- The EESPA will be formed by the end of summer to represent the interests of the industry before the consultative forum set by the European Commission, the European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on e-Invoicing.
- Since 2007, the Commission urges dematerialisation service providers to set the base of interoperability for e-invoices exchange solutions. In 2009, the report of the European e-Invoicing Expert Group (EEI) only resulted in recommending the elaboration of the UN CEFACT standards. A dedicated Forum was then created last December to help leverage the obstacles underlined by its experts.
