SEPA Migration: PMU Trusts Atos

  • PMU decided to hire Atos Origin for SEPA evolution of its means of payment and their management in SaaS mode on the vendor/processor’s platform. This contract will allow PMU to replace the X25 protocol and implement personal signature of payment orders while limiting the impact on its system and existing services.
  • Atos Origin processes financial exchanges between PMU’s banks and its 11,000 (physical and online) points of sale. To make its choice, PMU confided on Atos’s ability to manage the significant volumes of their cash management payments and its large number of banks.
  • PMU is the world second largest company specialised in bets (horse races) with 6.5 million customers, 9.5 billion euros annual sales and 1,400 employees. Its online activities (both Internet and mobile) grew 39% in 2010.
  • Most companies try to delay their SEPA compliance process. Nevertheless, even though the end-date(s) have not yet been fixed, this deadline cannot be escaped and the period seems rather short. This project, together with other due evolutions, may be integrated in a whole process of optimising payment IT systems, or even, all administrative and financial services. As the SEPA target is not yet clear, resorting to a service provider in a distant mode and opting for a usage-based payment (SaaS) seems an appropriate response.
  • Service companies offer enables its customers to make a distinction between the evolution of their business information system and payment flow management as well as relationships with the banks.
