Mobile Marketing: American Express Partners Foursquare

  • American Express partnered the social network Foursquare to propose this network’s users to register their bank card number in Foursquare mobile applications. First, they validate their location using this mobile application, once this process completed, they can be sent discounts from participating merchants if they pay with their American Express card.
  • American Express’s new platform Serve and their partnership with Foursquare are proper applications of their strategy targeting young generations, even if these potential customers do not resemble the traditional American Express cardholders. This new partnership shows their interest in social networks, also asserted by recent initiatives such as Currency or QuaterLife.
